U10 Player Development Guide (Ages 8–9)

Our U10 Player Development Guide is built around two core principles: technical repetition and an introduction to team play. We evaluate players on a 1–5 scale across four key pillars: Technical, Tactical, Physical, and Mental. This guide outlines specific training topics, coaching strategies, and program recommendations based on a player's current evaluation score.

🔴 Scores Under 2: "Emerging to Developing"

A player at this stage is starting to grasp basic concepts but needs consistent guidance and structured repetition to build a solid foundation.

    • Dribbling ⚽ under light pressure

    • Basic shooting 🥅 form

    • Short passing and receiving

    • Following basic team shape and roles

    • Technical: Controlled dribbling, accurate short passes, an introduction to shooting, and basic use of both feet.

    • Tactical: Understanding which direction to go and very simple roles and spacing.

    • Physical: Movement with the ball and body control in tight areas.

    • Mental: Focus, following instructions, and building confidence after making mistakes.

    • Dribbling mazes with cones.

🟡 Scores 2–3: "Developing to Progressing"

At this stage, a player shows a basic understanding of skills and is beginning to apply them in both training and games.
