Next Gen’s winter Player Development Programs are designed to keep players sharp, motivated, and improving even during the off-season. Across the winter months, we’ll run four separate 3-week programs, each focused on a different key topic of the game.

Each month brings a new challenge—whether it’s mastering technical ball control, sharpening attacking skills, developing tactical awareness, or building speed and strength—players get the chance to dedicate focused time to one area before moving to the next.

With small group environments, professional coaching, and progressive training sessions, these programs are built to deliver maximum touches, confidence, and measurable growth in a short, impactful window.

Train with purpose this winter. Develop your game, one focus at a time.

  • Open to ages - U8, U10, U12 and U14

Passing & Combination Play

(3-Week Program)

This program builds the essential skills needed to move the ball quickly, intelligently, and effectively as a team. Players will learn how to connect passes with accuracy, support teammates with movement, and use combination play to break down defenses. Each session balances technical repetition with game-like scenarios to improve speed of play and awareness.

Over the 3 weeks, players will focus on:

  • Passing techniques – short, long, and driven passes with both feet

  • First touch into space to set up the next action

  • Give-and-go patterns and supporting runs

  • Switching play & creating space through movement and awareness

  • Decision-making under pressure in small-sided games

By the end of the program, players will be more composed and creative in possession—able to link play, combine with teammates, and control the rhythm of the game.

First Touch & Control Under Pressure

(3-Week Program)

A great first touch sets the stage for every play. This program is designed to help players receive the ball cleanly, stay composed under pressure, and set up their next move with confidence. Through repetition and game-like situations, players will refine their ability to control the ball in different ways and in different areas of the field.

Over the 3 weeks, players will focus on:

  • Receiving techniques with all surfaces of the body (feet, thighs, chest)

  • First touch into space to create time and advantage

  • Controlling difficult balls – bouncing, aerial, and fast passes

  • Turning and shielding to maintain possession

  • Game-speed decision making after the first touch

By the end of the program, players will be able to handle the ball with greater confidence, keeping possession and setting themselves up for effective passes, dribbles, or shots.

Program 5 March - Registration Now Open

Turning Techniques & Ball Manipulation

(3-Week March Program)

This advanced 3-week Player Development Program is designed to help players receive, turn, and manipulate the ball at speed of play in tight, game-realistic environments. The focus is not just on learning turning techniques, but on selecting and executing the correct turning option at match tempo to escape pressure, create space, and play forward.

Each session balances high-repetition technical work with game-like scenarios, challenging players to scan early, receive under pressure, and turn with intent so skills translate directly into match performance.

Over the 3 weeks, players will focus on:

  • Half-turn receiving to play forward immediately

  • Disguised turning techniques such as Cruyff turns and body feints

  • Inside and outside cut turns to eliminate defenders with minimal touches

  • Drag backs and V-turns to create space under pressure

  • Pull-push and sole roll turns to manipulate defenders in congested areas

  • Turning at speed of play and making quick decisions after the turn

Player Outcomes

By the end of the program, players will be more confident and composed receiving the ball under pressure, better able to turn at game speed, and more effective at breaking pressure, retaining possession, and playing forward in tight spaces.
